What Mom Really Wants This Mother’s Day

In a sea of Mother’s Day Gift Guides and all the best trinkets and knick-knacks you can buy for Mom this Mother’s Day, here are a few ways Mom really wants to be thanked this year.

Given our unique situation this year, shipping is taking way longer than normal and money might be tight so don’t feel like you need to spend a ton of money on mom to show some love.

My mom is one of my best friends and we have a “call-seven-times-a-day” type of relationship. I live far away from home but don’t feel far at all because we are constantly keeping each other updated and in touch. She is the first person I want to call when something good happens to me or when I need advice on how to get a stain out of my rug. My mom probably gets so many questions that I easily could have googled but that’s what moms are for. They are great advice givers and are a wealth of knowledge.

Things I have asked my mom already this week include, “my skin is the worst it’s ever been. What do I do?” “how do I replace my prescription glasses?” “where do you buy macaroons from?” “does lasix really hurt?” and probably many more things that are entirely embarrassing and easily could have been looked up online. My mom always knows what to say and she comforts my insane requests.

My mom is also one of the hardest people to buy gifts for!! Anyone else have a mom who is difficult to shop for?! I thought I would write a post on how to thank your mom without buying her traditional candles or another kitchen appliance.

Flowers are my favorite gift to give someone as well as receive. I think they are so thoughtful and beautiful to look at. Bouqs is my favorite place to order from because their arrangements are just beautiful! Their flowers always arrive fresh and never wilted. With Mother’s Day being on a Sunday I would allow your flowers to arrive on Friday so she can enjoy them all weekend long!

A handwritten card. Yes.. handwritten!! My mom has a box filled with my artwork and thoughtful cards my siblings and I have written over the years. Moms are very sentimental and love to look back on cards showing them how much you love them! Don’t underestimate the value of a hand written card! My mom is also a words of affirmation kind of gal so she especially loves to hear nice things but all moms would love to hear how special they are!

A simple thank you. Don’t have the budget or the means this year? All moms really want on Mother’s Day is a special thank you. It truly goes such a long way and when was the last time you really thanked mom for being the super-amazing-loving human she is!

You don’t have to spend a ton of money or spoil her with a fancy gift certificate to the spa to show mom how much you care. While those things are nice, the real meaning of the day is to show our Mother’s how much they mean to us. A thank you and a handwritten card will mean more to her than you know!

xoxo,
