What I’ve Bought for My New Apartment

Welcome back friend!

I cannot believe it has been over two months since I have moved into my new apartment! I owe you a tour but I am still waiting to purchase a few things. I had to take a big break this last month on buying new things since it was a lot of stuff all at once financially. I’ve been saving up for this apartment for a long time so I was excited to get to finally furnish it. It’s even changed since I took this photo a few weeks ago I now have another accent chair next to this one!

If you are wondering why I moved you can check out this video on my YouTube where I explain why I’m moving and what I was looking for in a new apartment. If you want a tour of my previous apartment you can check out this video on YouTube here

I am still on the major hunt for a few things but I wanted to share what I do have since the place is really starting to come together!

I go into a lot about my decor style and how it has transitioned over the past few years in this post here. I knew I wasn’t going to be able transform my decor style overnight so that post has a lot of great tips on transitioning decor. I would call my style modern rustic. I love being able to pull things from different design styles and merge them together with the perfect balance of modern and rustic natural wood tone elements. Interior design has always been something I am passionate about so this is all super fun for me.

This is part of my living room! These two chairs sit along one wall and have an accent table in between with a lamp on them. The table is old from Home Goods and I’m honestly not the biggest fan of it. I would love to replace it with a wood stump someday.

For this space, I really wanted two accent chairs for extra seating. I fell in love with these accent chairs from Target and thought they were at a good price point. I bought them one at a time since I didn’t want to drop $600 at one time… THEN they sold out. I was so scared they weren’t going to come back in stock I had my eye on them for months and the chairs going out of stock never even crossed my mind. Luckily, they just came back in stock about two weeks ago and I was able to get a matching pair.

I did a lot of research on accent trees because I knew I needed an artificial one.  There was no chance I was going to be able to take care of a real tree. I thought that fig tree’s were a little over popular so I wanted something more unique and with a little more of a dainty leaf. I love olive trees so this one was perfect! It has amazing reviews and I am so impressed with the quality. I always get so many compliments on it. I have the tallest size but it does come in a few different sizes. My goal is to someday get a nice antique pot for it but for now a basket will do.

If you haven’t heard me talk about the faux fur dog bed over on stories you need to understand my love for it! I love that it matches the look of my decor. Miller absolutely loves it and how I initially thought to even look into a faux fur dog bed is because I had a faux fur Christmas tree skirt and she always slept on it and it became her new spot!

I am in love with this rug! This is the best brand of rugs and I knew I wanted a neutral colored but still bold antique rug for the living room. I have a lot of neutral furniture so this helps tie everything together nicely.

I am still waiting on a framed piece of art for the wall behind where I am standing. I really love this photo with the matted natural frame but I can’t decide if I am still going to love it in a few years. Art is really hard for me and I always get stuck on things and then don’t even like them a few weeks later. I don’t know what else to do with this space but I know it needs something and something big. I would love for it to be super unique like something I found at an antique store or a framed rug but I also haven’t really looked for anything like that. We will see that’s the final thing missing for this space but only because I can’t make up my mind!

I don’t have the biggest space for a dining table and knew I needed something small but still functional. I have always loved the look of black spindle farm chairs but with a wood table they can quickly become too “farmhouse.” In order to blend both modern and rustic together, I went with a super modern white pedestal table. I love the sleek look of it and with the chairs, it balances the two perfectly.

The rug and the light fixture are two things I currently don’t have. Mostly because I am still deciding on which element I want to be modern vs rustic. I have a lot of rugs in close proximity to my dining nook so I might not even need a rug if I go with a more rattan light fixture like this one here. I also love the modern look of the one I linked here so it’s been hard to decide which is mostly why I’ve put off buying one because I can’t make up my mind! What are your thoughts?!

A lot of the other areas are still coming together in my house and I will slowly start to reveal them but here are two that are pretty much done! I am linking other things I have bought or already owned for my home below. Thanks for taking the time to read this post and I hope you found some inspiration for your own space!
